To participate in the shade screen rebate and window film program, you must:

• Be a permanent SRP residential electric customer.
• Live in a single-family detached, attached or mobile home or an apartment/condo.
• Purchase and install new or refurbished qualifying shade screens or install window film through a licensed contractor by April 30, 2024.

• Install shade screens that block at least 80% of the solar heat gain on sunstruck windows only (west-, south- and east-facing windows).
• Install screens on the exterior of clear glass windows that enclose an air-conditioned space.
• Motorized or retractable shade structures are not eligible for the rebate unless installed along with photocell solar sensor equipment.

• Install window film on the interior or exterior of clear glass windows that enclose an air-conditioned space.
• Install window film with a maximum solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of .45 on the interior or exterior of double-pane sunstruck windows only (west-, south- and east-facing windows).
• Install window film with a maximum solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of .40 on the interior or exterior of single-pane sunstruck windows only (west-, south- and east-facing windows).

The Department of Energy (DOE) offers a Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), which is available to households with lower incomes that qualify for Supplemental Security Income and Aid to Families with Dependent Children and meet other income-eligibility criteria. This program includes a home energy assessment and common home improvements, such as shading sun-exposed windows, primarily for houses using central refrigeration cooling.

Please Note: The ED3 Rebate program is subject to availability of funding and the program is subject to change without notice. Due to the limits on funds applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rebate Details: 

• $0.80 per square foot of professionally installed shade screens, up to $250 per household.
• If approved, rebate will be applied as a bill credit within 1-2 cycles of application approval. 

Application Requirements: 

1. The Primary Account Holder must complete a Residential Shade Screen Rebate Application.
2. The Primary Account Holder must include pictures of the shade screens installed and in-use (down, covering the windows).
3. A paid-in-full invoice which includes the below (Do not submit application until the screens are installed):

• The installing contractor/company name, address, and Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AROC) license number.
• The date of installation and or purchase. 
• The address of installation, including unit/apartment numbers.
• The total square footage of installed shade screens listed by direction (square footage on east, south and west listed individually).
• The number of screens installed.
• The type of windows installed on (Double or Single-Pane).
• The percentage of solar heat gain that the shade screens block (minimum of 80%)
• The total cost of installation (price without north-facing windows and/or bug screen installation).

Installation Requirements: 

1. Only new solar shade screens installed on sunstruck windows (east, west and south-exposed windows) qualify for the rebate. 
2. The material of the solar shade screens must block at least 80% of the solar heat gain. 
3. The screens must be installed on the exterior of clear glass windows that enclose an air-conditioned space. 
4. Motorized or retractable shade structures are not eligible for the rebate.
5. Failure to provide any of the required information, including signatures, will result in the return of the rebate application or rebate denial.
6. Solar shade screens must be installed by a contractor licensed to install shade screens by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
7. To qualify, you must be a permanent ED3 residential electric customer and reside in a single-family detached home, a single-family attached home or an apartment/condominium.

Terms and Conditions: 

1. ED3 does not endorse any particular manufacturer or contractor as a part of this program. All purchases are made at the discretion of the customer. 
2. ED3 disclaims any and all liability, loss, or damage that may arise from participation in this program. ED3 shall not be liable or responsible for any equipment installed by any electrician, technician, or individual. 
3. ED3 disclaims any and all liability, loss, or damage that may arise as a result of participation in this program.
4. Installation and purchase must be completed during the current calendar year. The application must be submitted within 30 days of purchase.
5. Shade screens cannot be used or refurbished.
6. ED3 may change and/or cancel the program at any time. In the event of a change, any pre-approved applications will be processed and completed under the terms and conditions effect at the time of pre-approval, provided funding for the program is still available.
7. ED3 reserves the right to inspect the installed shade screens for compliance with the program requirements. If the shade screens are selected for an inspection, the rebate will be withheld pending the outcome of the inspection. If the shade screens are not in compliance, the customer and contractor will be notified.
